CMA Shipping : Peak Season Surcharge In September

Every year around April and November is the busier season for international cargo transportation in the world, and at this time many shipping companies will take the excuse to collect peak season surcharge with shippers.

PSS is not limited to which one or two fixed routes, all routes will have the possibility of PSS. Among them in Europe, the Mediterranean and South American routes are more common.

Recently, CMA Shipping official website announced that effective September 5, 2023, a peak season surcharge (PSS) will be levied from Asia to South Africa. Overweight Surcharge (OWS) will be levied on dry containers from Asia to West Africa.

CMA Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from Asia to South Africa

In its continuous effort to provide reliable and efficient services to its customers, CMA CGM informs the following Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) to be levied from September 5, 2023 (loading date) until further notice.

Specific notification and charges:

  • Port of Departure: Asian Countries/Regions: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, China, Macau, China and Taiwan, China
  • Destination Port: Cape Town, South Africa
  • Container Type: Dry Cargo, Reefer, OOG and Breakbulk
  • Rate: USD 150 per TEU

CMA Asia to West Africa Overweight Surcharge (OWS)

CMA CGM would like to inform its customers of the following Overweight Surcharge (OWS) update:

US$150 per 20ft dry container over 18 tons gross weight from Mainland China, Hong Kong, China, Macau, China and Taiwan to Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola and Gabon, effective September 5, 2023.

Hapag-Lloyd: Peak Season Surcharge on North American Routes Podcast

  • Ports of Departure: Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and Philippines.
  • Destination ports: USA and Canada
  • Charges: 20-foot container: US$480, 40-foot and high container: US$600.
