- Packable volume: 28 cubic meters.
- This type of container is usually equipped with heavy cargo.
40GP
- 40 x 8 x 8.6 (ft), 11.8 x 2.13 x 2.18 (m)
- Counterweight: 22 tons Volume (m3): 67.5 cu.m.
- Packable Volume (m3): 67.5 cubic meters.
- This container is usually equipped with light blister cargo.
40HQ
- 40 X 8 X 9.6 (ft), 11.8 X 2.13 X 2.72 (m)
- Counterweight: 22 tons Volume (m3): 76.2 cubic meters
- Volume (m3): 76.2 cubic meters.
- This kind of container is generally fitted with light blister cargo, relative to the 40GP can carry the same weight, but can hold 10 cubic meters more cargo.
These three kinds of shipping container types can basically transport most of the goods in the current foreign trade transactions

Reefer Container
Reefer containers are insulated containers capable of maintaining controlled low temperatures. Most of them are used to carry fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as food, meat, vegetables, seafood, medicines and beverages that require temperature control.
They can be differentiated in terms of size as follows
- 20-foot freezer: inner dimensions 5.42m X 2.26m X 2.24m / gross weight of cargo 17 tons / volume 26 cubic meters
- 40-foot freezers: internal dimensions 11.20 m X 2.24 m X 2.18 m / gross weight of goods generally 22 tons / volume 54 cubic meters
- 40-foot freezers: internal dimensions 11.62m X 2.29m X 2.50m / gross weight of goods dispatched generally 22 tons / volume 67 cubic meters
- 45-foot freezers: internal dimensions 13.10m X 2.29m X 2.50m / gross weight of goods dispatched generally 29 tons / volume 75 cubic meters
There are basically two kinds of refrigerated shipping container types used in the international market at present:
One is the container with a freezer called mechanic refrigerated container.
The other is that there is no freezer in the container, but there is heat insulation equipment. The inner wall of the container has air inlet and outlet at both ends, and after the box is loaded in the cabin, the cold air is supplied by the ship’s refrigeration unit. It is called clutch type reefer container (also called external reefer container).
Open Top Container
This kind of container is characterized by the fact that the top of the box can be easily removed and loaded, and the cargo can be easily loaded and unloaded with a crane. This type of shipping container types is convenient for carrying larger machinery, steel, glass, wood and large sheet materials. Distinguished from the size there are the following types:
- 20-foot open top container: inner dimension 5.89m X 2.32m X 2.31m / gross cargo weight 20 tons / volume 31.5 cubic meters
- 40-foot open top container: internal dimensions 12.01m X 2.33m X 2.15m / gross weight of cargo 30.4 tons / volume 65 cubic meters
- 20-foot flat-bottomed container: internal dimensions 5.85m X 2.23m X 2.15m / gross weight of cargo 23 tons / volume 28 cubic meters
- 40-foot flat-bottomed containers: internal dimensions 12.05m X 2.12m X 1.96m / gross weight 36 tons / volume 50 cubic meters
Frame Container
This kind of shipping container types has no top and side walls, even the end walls are removed leaving only the bottom plate and four pillars. This kind of container can be loaded and unloaded from left and right, up and down, front and back.
It is suitable for loading long and large pieces and heavy pieces, such as heavy machinery, steel, wood, steel ingots and so on.Frame containers are not waterproof, and goods that are afraid of water need to be equipped with waterproof canvas to cover and seal them if they are to be boxed.
