Freight cost of LCL truck to the United States

There are generally two ways to calculate the shipping cost of LCL truck, one is charged by volume (CBM) and the other is charged by weight (KG).

Different freight forwarders and channels may have different offers and rules, so sellers need to consult and compare in advance.

1. Volume-based LCL truck (self-taxed LCL truck): generally there is a starting volume requirements, such as 1 CBM or 2 CBM, if the volume of goods is less than the starting volume, we must calculate the freight according to the starting volume.

Here’s more on the calculations by CBM:

If the volume of goods is less than the starting volume, the shipping fee will be calculated according to the starting volume. The LCL truck charged by volume is generally not tax inclusive, and the seller needs to bear the tax of the port of destination and other costs, such as inspection fees, overtime charges and so on.

2. Charge by weight LCL truck (tax inclusive): generally double clearing and tax inclusive, that is to say, the freight cost has already included the tax and other costs of the destination port, the seller does not have to pay extra tickets.

Charge by weight of the LCL trucking is generally no starting volume requirements, as long as the weight to meet the minimum charge can be, such as 50KG or 100KG. If the weight of the goods is less than the minimum charge, the weight of the minimum charge should be calculated according to the weight of the freight.

Generally speaking, the LCL trucking charged by weight is more convenient and simpler than the sea card charged by volume, but it also depends on the volume of the specific goods than the weight ratio, as well as the logistics company’s offer and quality of service, the seller needs to choose the appropriate LCL trucking according to their own actual situation.
