2. If the weight of the goods exceeds the maximum load-bearing weight of the container, this kind of goods cannot be transported by container sea shipping.
3. Oversized cargo cannot be transported by sea in containers. Some large accessories are super high and super wide. These goods can only be transported on the cabin or deck of a bulk carrier.
4. Containers do not handle military transportation. If the army or military enterprise handles container sea transportation, it shall be handled as commercial transportation. Military transportation using self-provided containers shall no longer be handled according to the container transportation conditions.
How is container sea shipping cost calculated?
The volume or weight of the cargo
For sea container transportation, the size of your cargo is the most important, while air freight is more concerned about the weight of your cargo. But again, the more merchandise you have, the more expensive it will be to ship it in an ocean container.
Transport type
Sea container or air container, the shipping method will determine the price and the time it takes for your item to arrive. Air freight tends to be faster and more expensive than sea freight, so if you have some spare time, you should definitely choose sea freight. Sea freight from China to USA is usually around five times cheaper than air freight.
Travel distance
It is conceivable that the distance between two shipping points will determine the shipping cost. If you’re shipping your stuff to the other side of the world, it’ll cost more than a jaunt across the Mediterranean Sea.
Destination
Customs duties and service charges are unavoidable, but they vary from country to country. Of course, where your shipment arrives will determine how much duties and taxes you will have to pay. See our breakdown of these various fees at the end of the page.
Shipping season
Like any other industry, international shipping has peak seasons. These usually occur in summer (August-September) and after Chinese New Year (January-February). During the peak season, the demand is greater, the price is higher, and the production capacity is more limited. Best to avoid shipping during these times if you want the lowest prices.
